Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 13, 2026

ArborCE is built with the belief that all tree care professionals deserve equal access to the tools that help them maintain their credentials. We are committed to making our website and mobile app accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities, and we work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.

Arborists do their work outdoors -- on job sites, at tree care conferences, and in the field. We design our app to be easy to use in bright sunlight on a phone screen, with large tap targets and clear layouts that work whether you are wearing gloves or using assistive technology.

What we do

  • Provide skip navigation links so keyboard users can bypass repeated content.
  • Use semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA labels.
  • Maintain a minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
  • Ensure all interactive elements are accessible by keyboard and have visible focus indicators.
  • Set a minimum touch target size of 44 by 44 pixels for mobile users.
  • Include alternative text for all meaningful images.
  • Label all form fields and provide clear error messages.
  • Set the page language attribute to help screen readers pronounce content correctly.

Standards we follow

We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This covers guidelines for perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust web content. We test with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and automated accessibility tools.

Accessibility for arborists

We pay special attention to the features arborists use most. CEU progress trackers display both visual bars and numeric counts so users with color vision differences can read them clearly. ISA certification category breakdowns (e.g., tree biology, safety, pest management) use text labels alongside any color coding. Certificate upload supports a labeled file picker instead of relying on drag-and-drop alone. Renewal countdown notifications include descriptive text that assistive technology can announce, not just visual badges.

Known limitations

While we work to make all content accessible, some areas may not yet fully meet every guideline. We are actively improving our site and app. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please let us know.
